
Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge NomineesThe Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge is a national competition for students in grades 5 – 8. Students are nominated by the judges at an Intel ISEF affiliated fair based on their ability to communicate the science of their project. Four hundred students nationwide are selected as semifinalists in the first round of the competition. The judges then review the applications of the semifinalists to select 40 national finalists to travel to Washington, DC in October to compete for a top prize of $20,000! STAGE

The
MathScience Innovation Center is pleased to announce
that Teresa Maria Dula, representing Harry
F. Byrd Middle School in Henrico County, has been selected
as one of 400 semi-finalists in the 9th
Annual Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge. Teresa
was nominated to this national middle school competition by the
Metro Richmond Science Fair, where she won
First Place in the Junior Computer Science category this past
March. The Metro Richmond Science Fair, which is affiliated with the
Intel International Science & Engineering Fair, is hosted each
year by the MathScience Innovation Center.
