Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge Nominees

The Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge is a national competition for students in grades 5 – 8. Students are nominated by the judges at an Intel ISEF affiliated fair based on their ability to communicate the science of their project. Four hundred students nationwide are selected as semifinalists in the first round of the competition. The judges then review the applications of the semifinalists to select 40 national finalists to travel to Washington, DC in October to compete for a top prize of $20,000!

STAGE ONE:
Twenty-eight students from the 2007 Metro Richmond Science Fair were nominated by the judges to the DCYSC.  The students send in their entries to the competition in June.  The 400 national semifinalists will be announced in August and the 40 finalists will be selected in October, 2007.
