This
page includes links to general fair rules applicable to ALL
students regardless of what type of research they are conducting.
All
project work for the 2012 Metro Richmond Science Fair must
be conducted within a continuous period of no more than 12
months between January 2011 and March
2012.
All students submitting projects to the Metro Richmond Science
Fair must adhere to the following Intel ISEF Ethics Statement:
| Scientific
fraud and misconduct are not condoned at any level of
research or competition. Such practices include
plagiarism, forgery, use or presentation of other researcher's
work as one's own and fabrication of data. Fraudulent
projects will fail to qualify for competition in affiliated
fairs or the ISEF. |
The
rules for the Metro Richmond Science Fair (MRSF) follow the
rules used by the Intel
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
In some cases the MRSF rules may be more strict than
those of the Intel ISEF. Explanations of these
differences, if any, are provided on the appropriate pages.
There
are rules that are specific to students doing research involving:
-
Vertebrate animals
- Humans
- Potentially
hazardous BIOLOGICAL agents (bacteria, etc.)
- Animal
or human tissue
- Controlled
or hazardous substances or devices (see below).
The
above are RESTRICTED PROJECTS, which require additional
forms and may require prior approval by a review board.
For additional information on Restricted Projects, follow
the link at the bottom of the page.
